First steps
Pre-courses (Bachelor)
Before each winter semester, the faculties of mathematics and physics offer pre-courses in mathematics for engineers and mathematical aids in physics, respectively, to facilitate the start of the study program. The pre-courses usually take place in September. Participation in a pre-course is recommended but, as mentioned, not obligatory. More info about the pre-courses can be found here.
Introductory events
The introductory events are designed to make it easier for first-year students to begin their studies. During these events, you will receive important information about the faculty and its facilities as well as explanations about the study plan, study structure and planning of examinations. More information about this year’s introductory events can be found here.
Moodle
Moodle is a learning platform that enables learning content to be made available via the Internet. Moodle courses can thus be optimally used as a supplement to classroom lectures. Here, the faculty and lecturers provide comprehensive information on the organization of studies, but also on courses. We recommend that you register for our “SEPM-Info” course. This will provide you with all current and relevant info. Click here for self-enrollment in the course.
Flexnow
FlexNow is a website that all students of the engineering faculties as well as the Faculty of Economics of RUB use to manage their exams. These students can use FlexNow to register or deregister from exams. Here you can find more information.
RUB-E-Mail
Students of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum automatically receive a personal e-mail address. You will need this e-mail address to use various services, but you will also receive important information via it. You can find more information here.
Timetable (Bachelor)
For the first semester there is still a fixed timetable, which is currently published on this page. For the following semesters, there is an electronic course catalog from which the corresponding courses can be selected. You can find the course catalog here. However, you can only register for courses if you log in via our study organization portal eCampus and access it there.
eCampus
With the help of eCampus, many aspects of organizing your studies can be done conveniently from home or from a campus network workstation: From accessing your personal RUB mail account, to printing documents such as your certificate of study or semester ticket, to accessing the course catalog. Read more about eCampus here.
RUB LoginID
As part of your enrollment, you will receive a so-called RUB-LoginID. With the RUB-LoginID and the corresponding password, RUB students can log in to the various digital services of RUB. You can find more information here.
