Requirements

Are you interested in technology? At the same time, you have a strong interest in business and would like to work with people? Then the study SEPM at our faculty could be something for you! The prerequisites under which our students start their studies are very different, some have taken advanced courses in relevant subjects such as mathematics or technology, others “only” bring a basic course level with them here. In any case, it is important that you are interested in technical as well as business issues and that you are motivated.

With a university entrance qualification (usually the Abitur), the basic prerequisite for SEPM studies at the RUB is given.

You are not required to complete an internship or take any pre-courses prior to your SEPM studies. However, we do recommend that you take pre-courses. More about this below.

Application

The SEPM study program at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum is restricted in admission. This means that prospective students must apply for a place on the SEPM course. The application deadline is usually July 15.

If you would like to apply for the first semester of our admission-restricted degree program SEPM, you must first register online with the Foundation for University Admission (SfH) at www.hochschulstart.de. You can then apply via the RUB online portal. You will then receive all further information about your application via the e-mail address you submitted with your application. If you receive an admission, you still have to enroll or immatriculate afterwards.

If you are already studying another degree program and would like to apply for the second semester of our SEPM program , then the application deadline is September 15 or March 15 of each year. In this case, you have to apply online at the Ruhr-University Bochum:

Enrollment

After your application you will receive a notification whether you have been accepted for the study program. If you have been granted a study place, you must still enroll at the RUB within the enrollment period. The deadlines are stated in your notification of admission. Enrollment (or matriculation) at RUB takes place completely online via a corresponding online portal:

Pre-courses

Before each winter semester, the faculties of mathematics and physics offer pre-courses in mathematics for engineers and mathematical aids in physics, respectively, to facilitate the start of the study program. The pre-courses usually take place in September. Participation in a pre-course is recommended but, as mentioned, not mandatory.
