Study contents

The aim of the master’s program is to acquire knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering in order to be able to carry out complex engineering activities independently and responsibly. The master’s program thus leads to a professional qualification that is necessary for working in research and development with management responsibility. It also provides the necessary knowledge for scientific work at a doctoral level.

In addition to the STEM elective (15 LP) and non-STEM modules (5 LP), a large portion of the credit is earned in the area of the individual specialization:

  • Modeling and simulation of mechanical systems
  • Energy and process engineering
  • Construction and automation technology
  • Materials and Micro-Engineering
  • Turbomachines

The Master’s examination (30 LP) is intended to determine whether the candidate has acquired sound knowledge and the ability to independently apply sophisticated scientific methods. The students should be enabled to critically classify scientific findings as well as to think and act responsibly and in an interdisciplinary manner and should be able to analyze complex problems in mechanical engineering and independently develop solutions to these.
