Information on habilitations
Basic information
The habilitation is the prerequisite for the teaching authorisation. Upon application by the post-doctoral lecturer, the university decides on the award of the authorisation to teach independently in his/her subject at the university. If the habilitated person receives the authorisation, he/she may use the title “Privatdozent*in”. This does not constitute an employment relationship. (§ 68 HG NRW)
The Faculty Council decides on the opening of habilitation proceedings. The prerequisite for opening a habilitation process is continued scientific work after the doctorate has been completed.
The habilitation accomplishments consist of
- the habilitation thesis
- and a scientific lecture before the habilitation committee followed by a colloquium.
